leadership style changed based on the audience and the followers.1 He taught the money-changers, for instance, by becoming angry, thus, leading change. He led the people through His teachings, including
many parables. We can say that He adopted the leadership style that was appropriate for the messages and the people. That could be equated with situational leadership. In John,
we read Jesus words: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."2 Again, "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and
my sheep know me-."3 He led as a shepherd leads his sheep. A shepherd is gentle and caring of his sheep. He takes care of them and protects them.
This is what Jesus did, He protected His people. He protected His disciples during His ministry on earth. He selected them, taught them, counseled them and loved them. Jesus was
a shepherd who led His flock to truth. In our terms regarding leadership, Jesus was a mentoring leader. He illustrated all the good of a mentoring leader and none
of the dark side. As a good mentor, Jesus gently taught the Apostles about the right way to live. He taught them to preach as He had done. And, as
a mentoring leader, He gave them more and more responsibility so they would be able to carry on after He left.4 For instance, in Luke we read that Christ gave
the Twelve "power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure disease, and he sent them out to preach the Kingdom of God."5 When they returned, they reported
