was asked to reflect on the most significant ethical issue that he viewed as a part of his role as a marriage and family counselor, John maintained that it was
mandatory reporting. He stated that while he believed that mandatory reporting, both of spousal abuse and child abuse, was a necessary component of his role, he stated that
he felt that many people came to the therapeutic relationship seeking support for change that was initiated by issues related to spousal or child abuse. John maintained that
adherence to a strict code of personal conduct, particular in relation to New Jersey state reporting laws, often was the cause of some internal conflict on his part, because of
