territory (Russian Federation). The Russians ultimately immigrated to the United States as a means by which to escape the oppression they experienced in their homeland. America represented a
chance to break free of their traditional limitations and embark on a new and prosperous journey, where they have created many communities throughout the country, particularly on the East Coast.
While the rest of Europe was advancing culturally as a direct result of the Renaissance period, Russia did not reap the same benefits
of cultural development. The Mongol occupation in Russia was responsible for the disproportionate growth; because of the ongoing Mongol suppression, Russians were not able to prosper culturally to the
extent other European countries experienced. The Mongols - a "great army of nomadic warriors" (Anonymous #2 PG) whose feuding tribes who were brought together as one force by Genghis
