Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 6 page paper that responds to the question: Are salary and good working conditions sufficient for staff to work well? The writer begins by saying – that depends on the definition of 'good working conditions.' The writer then briefly reminds the reader of the results of Mayo's early Hawthorne studies and comments that was a long time ago and workers today need more than basic survival. This leads to a brief overview of Herzberg's theory and Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The writer then discusses empowerment as a condition of a good working environment, supporting this with ideas from Corsun and Enz and Deming. Bibliography lists 9 sources.

with status. Every job has status if the work is interesting (Accel Team, 2003). * The job is interesting and challenging enough for the employee to feel a sense of

for employees to work well. Probably. Because it is known that todays workers want more than what this list describes. Maslows theory of needs has been cited frequently when
