That is, I will still be a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a friend and so forth. The roles I play will not change at all. I will still be
able to speak to people the same as always and enjoy the mundane things like having a meal with my family and watching a good movie. Of course, things would
change in terms of how I would go about living on a daily basis, and this may mean that someone has to take care of at least some of my
needs. I am an independent person and becoming a quadriplegic would alter the manner in which I live. I would no longer be able to play tennis or volleyball or
engage in some of the sports I had been involved in all through high school. Yet, I could join the Special Olympics, or have wheelchair races with other people when
I am in the hospital for example. There are things I would still be able to do. In fact, I have heard of a quadriplegic mountain climber who rigged up
a way to still climb a mountain after he lost use of all of his limbs. There are ways to do things. I would be able to run marathons, even
if it is in my wheelchair. I am starting this essay with physical tasks because people tend to think of quadriplegia as a physical problem, but in reality, this is
a problem of the mind. Although it is true that if I were a quadriplegic, I would not have use of my limbs for example, I would still be myself.
In other words, I could still engage in sports-something unbelievable to some-but this is a possibility. Of course, I have devoted my life to becoming an attorney and this is
