that foreign and security policies emerge, which will reflect its new position, its aims and objectives within the international community, as well as the changing role that it will hold.
The security policy within China has always been driven by domestic needs, a major focus of current policies of the economic transformation of the country. Rhetoric coming out of the
country also indicates that there is a political transformation taking place, although this may be seen as less urgent and more resisted by the political powers. Gilboy and Heginbotham (2010)
