in the U.S., many white people lump blacks and Latinos together, but in Hispanic territories, it seems that black people are not always accepted. There are various nuances of racism
and things are not just about black people against the rest of the world. In fact, there are shades of black and white within the world and prejudice unfortunately emerges
due to the differences. Racism is a fact of life that is based on a ridiculous prejudice. That someones skin color matters when the world is made of many shades
suggests that there is absolutely no reason why people should be prejudice. Of course, for many, there are more reasons to support prejudice than the idea that they do not
like someone elses skin color. Still, many of the supposed facts are illusions and stereotypes. The stereotypes that claim certain people are lazy or ignorant based on race are simply
not true. There is no reason for prejudice and this is best exemplified in a book about the early twentieth century by Rosario Castellanos. Castellanos book entitled The Book of
Lamentations is a work that provides a sense of history as it delves into 1930s Mexico. There is a sense of how life was, and it should be said that
this was a different place and time. Yes, the people did not have abundance, but also, one can say that there was little in that day anyway. There were no
modern conveniences to better distinguish the poor. As the book begins, one story explains how Catalina was given to Pedro: "Catalina Diaz Puilja, barely twenty years old already dry
