A participative style works well for the company and for the nurses. In Chapter 12, Hughes, Ginnett and Curphy (2001) state that participative leaders "tend to share work problems
with followers; solicit their suggestions; concerns; and recommendations; and weigh these inputs in the decision-making process." This fits well with my companys work
and makes use of the nurses knowledge of their work and their patients. It is in keeping with Demings (1986) exhortation to use employees knowledge and his reminder that
