departments and processes into proposed or considered solutions for immediate problems needing attention. Considering value can prevent the proliferation of incompatible systems while promoting homogeneous systems that offer organization-wide
solutions to problems of individual departments. One author refers to systems thinking in decision making in saying, "...a key to good decision making is to provide a structured method
for incorporating the information, opinions and preferences of the various relevant people into the decision making process" (Kirkwood, 1997; p. 2). Strategic choices
can be evaluated in terms of their utility for more than only one application or one solution. They can add value in what they do - such as mine
