In May 1958 Homer and Faye Williams were anticipating the most exciting event Of their young lives. That event was the birth of
their first child. Little did they know just twenty-one years later their humble lives as proud parents would soon be propelled into one of the most memorable crime trials
of all time. The man accused of the horrendous murders the media had dubbed "The Atlanta Child Murders" was no other than Wayne Bertram Williams, the much-loved son of
Homer and Faye Williams. Born on May 27, 1958 in Atlanta Georgia (NNDB.com), Wayne Williams was an odd (some say talented) twenty-one
year old at the time he was accused of one of the most shocking murder sprees of all time. He had graduated from Frederick Douglas High School with honors
and attended Georgia State University briefly (NNDB.com). He was a budding talent scout with his own home-based radio station. Williams made money on the side, however, as an
"ambulance chaser". He was known in the community as a "scanner freak". He listed to his scanner around the clock and was often able to reach accident and
crime scenes before the police themselves. By doing so he had managed to capture many of these events on video tape and sell them to the media.
The murders that began to be unearthed in the Atlanta region would not only shock Williams parents but the nation as a whole. Regardless
of who committed them, the murderer had left a gruesome mark on Williams own home town. Some twenty-nine young lives had been taken and the whole nation was certain
