this is a misnomer. That is, the economy is not as bad as it appears. Still, by and large, most agree that things are very bad. One focus has been
on job losses. This is fair game, but truthfully, one can say that if 7% of the people are unemployed, it also means that 93% of the people do have
jobs. It is not as if there are no jobs. Still, even when people have jobs, there is talk about problems. Sales people have trouble getting inventory in as their
companies are not doing too well with their creditors. Stores are certainly not ordering enough product and this means less choice for consumers. While people are cutting down on big
ticket items, they still need ordinary things to live and so the situation is something that has become troubling for the people. How might someone know how the economy
is really doing? Which economic indicators might someone want to watch over the next six months? For example, between March and September of 2009, what might one want to look
at to be able to tell how the economy is doing and how one might make predictions for the future? In this economy, the greatest fear is job loss and
so unemployment is probably the most significant indicator. This is because it is the most reported problem in the present economy. While perhaps there is a great focus on unemployment
to the detriment of other things, the truth is that when people do not have jobs, they do not put money back into the economy. They may live on credit
cards or home equity lines of credit. They are also out looking for jobs and flooding an already tight job market. New high school and college graduates cannot get the
