As the earths resources are depleted we are slowly coming to the recognition that we must somehow stop the rampant destruction which we are witnessing. One of these ways
is by effecting a reduction in both the non-hazardous and hazardous wastes we generate in our homes and our places of business. Offices and factories are responsible, in fact,
not only for an incredible amount of resource depletion but also an incredible volume of waste generation. With effective project management, however, we can not only reduce the amount
of resources we utilize but also reduce the amount of wastes that we generate. Recycling is a particularly interesting project management solution.
The types and particulars of wastes which are generated in offices and factories vary, of course, according to a number of factors. One of the most important of these
factors is the type of activity occurring in these places of business. While an administrative office might be overwhelmed by the amount of paper waste it generates, a factory
manufacturing chemical pesticides would likely have an entirely different type of waste to worry about. To a large degree recycling efforts at our offices and factories are a reflection
on government policies on recycling. Countries vary dramatically, however, in their requirements. Australia is an example of one of the more progressive countries in terms of her requirements
for recycling. Other countries, including our own, are considerably more lax. The efforts of project managers, however, are instrumental in each governmental environment in terms of minimizing resource
utilization and maximizing recycling. Australia serves as a particularly valid example for both offices and factories in terms of what can be done
