conducive with the thinking of Karl Marx, and certainly, it could be said that Lenin had his own way of thinking too. One source claims that it was not Lenin
who implemented Marxism-communism came to Russia decades earlier-but he instituted Communism in totalitarian fashion ("Lenin and the First Communist Revolutions, I," 2007). In effect, Marxism is not Leninism. Lenin did
subscribe to Marxist views and in fact would never admit that capitalism was working ("Lenin and the First Communist Revolutions, I," 2007). Of course, a true Marxist would recognize that
not only was capitalism something integral to creating communism, but it would create wealth too. Marx never denied that and today, the fruits of capitalism are seen in Communist China.
In any event, capitalism was a part of the Marxist plan. For Marx, there are different paradigms in society historically. It starts with serfdom but would inevitably rise to communism.
In some way, Marx was taking the role of seer, but he was an educated historian and theorist who did not really see the future. Still, he made predications in
his theory of historical materialism. Under the model, society would have to accumulate wealth and it does this through capitalism. Down the road, socialism would emerge and then, finally, communism,
which is the ideal society. Communism is the ultimate goal, but Marx only despised the fruits of capitalism. He did however see it as part of the grand plan. While
Lenin was not exactly a Marxist, he did claim to embrace Marxist views. A student asks where his modifications of Marxist thought were appropriate to the specific historical and economic
circumstances of Russia in 1918. In some sense, Lenin did want to help the Russian people. The culture was quite rigid and repressive. Some positive change would come about
