clash strongly throughout the world during a period of less than seventy five years. The War of The Austrian Succession (1740-1748) By its title alone we can see that
this was a war about who was entitled to rule the country. The contenders: Austrian archduchess Maria Theresa, the Elector of Bavaria, Charles Albert, Philip V of Spain,
Augustus III of Poland and Saxony, and Frederick II of Prussia. Basically this became a war between the Austrian Empire and the European powers to determine if Maria Theresa
had the right to rule inherited from her father. The Treaty of Aix La Chapelle ended the war determining Maria Theresas right to rule if she would cede Silesia to
Prussia. The Seven Years War (1756-1763) War was on the rampage everywhere in the world. Austria, France, Russia, Saxony, Sweden (after 1757) and Spain (after 1762)
on one side, and Britain, Prussia, and Hanover on the other. On the American continent, the English were once more disputing the French, forming the French and Indian Wars.
In Europe the main feud was between Austria and Prussia over Germany. Austrias Maria Theresa decided that she wanted Silesia back. This prompted Prussia to attack Saxony
and Bohemia. The Prussians struggled through. The Treaties of Hurbertusberg and Paris (1763) claimed Britain as the major colonial power and Prussia as a major European force. War
