Wanting to build the facility themselves rather than hire outside contractors, Wagner Foods, Inc. formed Wagner Development to be in charge of the planning and actual construction of the new
manufacturing facility. When construction was completed, Wagner Development was charged with the further development of the remaining land that had been purchased. After being successful in the
development of the remaining land from the initial purchase, Wagner Development expanded by purchasing other tracts of land and pursuing further development projects. Wagner Development became well known
as a regional construction and development company. Wagner Development is now a fully integrated real estate development company, but remains as a fully owned subsidiary of Wagner Foods, Inc. Wagner

PROBLEMS The current Management Information System (MSI) of the parent company of Wagner Food, Inc. is a combination of centralized and decentralized systems. In 1988 the MIS department was renamed
the Management Sciences Division (MSD) as a reflection of the departments commitment to providing support - Decision Support Systems (DSS), to all the various subsidiaries and divisions that compose Wagner
Foods, Inc. This includes Wagner Development. At the current time, MSD operates two IBM S/390 mainframe servers and an IBM AS 400 server which are networked together.
The MSD is currently responsible for over 800 networked PCs, along with over 40 smaller, PC based servers of various types, and all non-MSD developed and purchased software. MSD functions
