in history. WWII, in the opinion of many, was nothing more than a continuation of WWI, which was in itself nothing more than the culmination of centuries of small battles
and struggles. WWII was, however, one of the most important wars in history and it was a war that would forever change the entire world and what the world understood
about the capabilities and possibilities concerning warfare and the human race. It was a war filled with allies and enemies and a war that saw many crucial battles. The following
paper provides an overview of WWII. Events Leading Up to WWII As noted, WWII was not really a war that came
about because of one particular event and it was not even a war that arose out of events that just involved the 1930s that preceded the war. "The anger and
resentment that built up in Nazi Germany - and which was played on by Hitler during his rise to power and when he became Chancellor in January 1933 - also
had long term causes that went back to the 1919 Treaty of Versailles" (History Learning Site, 2007). It was this particular treaty which instilled in the Germans a great deal
of anger and frustration, as well as a need to retaliate (History Learning Site, 2007). During this time there was also the League of Nations which was ultimately designed
to keep peace and prevent war from happening again (History Learning Site, 2007). They had, however proved relatively unsuccessful in the face of aggression from particular nations and so "any
