to communicate workplace culture. But before culture can be shared or discussed, first leaders need to understand barriers from changing their behavior or performance at work (Webb and Vanden Heuval,
2003). Most communication plans about culture (whether in the workplace or not) fail because they arent planned well, nor are they developed or implemented well (Webb and Vanden Heuval, 2003).
At times, too, programs that look good in theory may not translate well into reality, most times, because employees believe that these programs are the latest "fad of the month,"
something management is introducing to look good to its employees (Webb and Vanden Heuval, 2003). The feeling here is "heres another program that management thinks will solve all our problems"
(Webb and Vanden Heuval, 2003). Because employees enter into such a program with an already defeatist attitude, the chances are that the program wont work (Webb and Vanden Heuval, 2003).
Many times, even if the programs are effective, the internal communication isnt (Gray, 2004). One way to ensure a better, more effective internal communications
program is to go to the source -- the employees -- to ensure that theyre receiving what they need to receive (Gray, 2004). Then
what is the best way to communicate culture in a workplace? Any successful communication method in the workplace doesnt rely on only one source, nor should it (Gray, 2004). People
