United States has come a long way, baby, but a review of the existing data show that she still has a very long way to go, yet. While the variety
of jobs are greater, the equality in pay is not equal to experience, or education, as compared to their male counterparts(Mason 1995). Women were still looked upon as possessing lesser
abilities than males in the same job situations. In fact, though the equal rights issues had been tackled and nearly every corporation in the United States has touted the EOE
letters at the bottom of all their corporate letterheads, sex discrimination simply changed its title and become more sophisticated in its attack on women and their ability to make a
living for their families. Women employed as accountants, auditors, and financial managers, despite their growing numbers, continue to receive compensation far lower than that of their male counterparts, according to
the latest data from the federal government(US Bureau of Labor Statistics 2004). For example, one of the issues this raises is the issue of the working mother. Firstly, if
a woman becomes pregnant she is urged to quit and stay home with her children, without little realization of what the loss of that income might mean for her family.
If the woman refuses to quit her job (and, of course, she couldnt be fired for being pregnant), the administration (comprised of all males) states that unless the woman has
