sheet that exists by itself in a vacuum. Many economists believe, in fact, that understanding the balance of payment is the key to understanding a countrys economy and its economic
strength. But what exactly is the connection between the U.S. balance of payment and the strength or weakness of the U.S. dollar and the economy?
The answer is somewhat complicated, but not impossible to figure out. In this paper, well examine the impact of the historic evolution of the balance of
payments, from the U.S. as a creditors nation back into the position as a debtors nation as the country moved from one that didnt willingly lend money (or investment) to
other parts of the world to one that seems to be giving out money and resources at the drop of a hat. By understanding balance of payments and its impact
on the economy, its hoped that a better understanding of how the U.S. handles capitalism abroad can give a good idea of how well (or poorly) the economy is doing
at home. Its not necessary to know every single dollar or sent when it comes to this topic to understand its impact on the overall economy. Rather, a solid feeling
