Cipher Systems website points out that the company offers full-service content management and intelligence consulting. The home page suggests a wide variety of clients in many industries, such as energy, health care and chemical. As part of its product line, the company provides everything from company profiles, market and industry audits and M&A due diligence to content management services such as document imaging and records management. From what the website points out, this companys competitive advantages seem to be longevity (13 years of it), Fortune 500 clients, published reports along with custom research and a relative ease of use. Finding information on Intelliseek was difficult and in doing the research, we found out why. Back in 2006, Buzzmetrics acquired Intelliseek, then turned around and sold a majority stake in the company to Nielsen, the folks who calculate the television and radio ratings. Nielsen, in its turn, is owned by VNU. Both BuzzMetrics and Intelliseek developed high-end, cutting-edge tools for tracking consumer-generated word-of-mouth on the Internet, in blogs, message boards and review sites (Rubel, 2006). Though attempts to access the Nielsen website were unsuccessful, Steve Rubel, in writing about the acquisition, came up with some interesting copy. The reason why software offered by Intelliseek (such as InvisibleWeb.com) is so important is because it helps users cut through the massive amounts of information on the Internet and cull the data down to useable products.
