nations are being loosened, the Internet, the World Wide Web and auxiliary web services are also coming to fruition in such developing nations. This is not to say that
the next explosion of high technology and cyberspace will necessarily come from areas such as India and China -- but experts note that business opportunities will grow in these areas.
Ralph Budelman, in this article "Internet potential in India" notes that the successful IPO regarding China.com -- Chinas Internet portal -- could be
a sign of things to come in determining Web services development in such developing countries (Budelman, 2001). Budelman acknowledges that while China.com was spectacular and had investors jumping in with
both feet, India did not experience quite as much of a rush, but rather "did see a smaller dot-com boom and bust" (Budelman, 2001).
As of now, Internet access within India is somewhat limited (Budelman, 2001). For one thing, Internet subscribers number of about 500,000 people -- when you a had shared-user and
cyber cafes, the number of users then approaches two million (Budelman, 2001). While two million people might seem impressive, compare this statistic to the USA, which boasts 100 million users
