Wal-Marts in-place policies, and where corrections and improvements can be made. Current In-Place Policies There is little solid information available about Wal-Marts
in-place security systems. What well provide is what is available in the literature, as well as general security policies that are in place in any Fortune 500 company. According to
Wal-Mart CIO Kevin Turner, companies spend approximately 20% on prevention and 80% on recovering from the problem (Lundberg, 2002). Redundancies. Wal-Mart
(and other companies) has security backups upon backups upon backups to product data in case one of the storage servers is damaged (Lundberg, 2002). Though these were in place for
years, the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 underlined the fact that back-ups and recovery processes were necessary to protect the data (Lundberg, 2002).
