article. Roles of the nonprofit community in reestablishing public confidence is a large part of this piece that looks in part at the accounting profession and the inevitable fraud that
comes with it. How ethical practices may be assured is a large part of this writing by Schweitzer (2003). The article opens by looking at the general populous, a loss
in faith in many institutions -- even the Catholic church --and then it goes on to discuss fraud and dishonesty in a more general manner. For example, on a panel,
one member defined ethics in quite a particle manner: "Ethics is doing the right thing when it costs more than we want to pay. We start with knowing what
is right and then having the courage to do whats right" (Schweitzer, 2003, p.26). This is a good point. It is easy to do the right thing when there
is no money involved. Yet, given a situation where there is money to be made, or money that can potentially be lost and people cheat. Yet, in the nonprofit sector,
there is a sense that such things would not prove problematic. Of course, problems do occur in nonprofit just as they do in the private sector, and this author provides
a sense of how this comes about. This article of course tends to focus on the nonprofit sector and even how cheating goes on in this area. Joyner-Kersee, a member
of the panel, explains that sometimes she cannot accept donations for the organization she represents because there is a conflict of interest. This article presents some ideas on why
