was PC to PC, however, it has now expanded to include the ability to call traditional telephone lines. The advantages are increased flexibility, and also the sot advantage of using
a discrete rather than a dedicated network to make the packet transmissions. The technology for making real time voice telephone calls through the internet is known as Voice over Internet
Protocols. Voice over Internet Protocols, known as VoIP is the ability to send the voice though internet protocols form one party to
another (VoIP). Known as IP telephony, this is seen as the next major breakthrough in increased facilities and low cost telecommunications. IP telephony manages packets to transmit the voice
in a digital form through the IP systems, meaning that there is an avoidance of the tolls that may be charged by traditional telephone companies (VoIP). The development of this
market has a umber of supplier, such as VocalTec, 3Com, Cisco, and Netspeak (VoIP), as well as fining support in operating systems such as Windows CE (Wyss, 2003).
