also be one of the best cities to choose if one were moving to Texas. SAN ANTONIO San Antonio is in Bexar County, Texas and has a population of
about 1.1 million people. Fifty-five percent of this population is Hispanic (San Antonio Almanac 1999). San Antonio is a rapidly growing city whose main industry is tourism.
However it has major manufacturers of "processed foods, aircraft, building materials, chemicals, wood products, clothing, and machinery" (Columbia Encyclopedia, 2001, PG) and agriculture is another big industry. There are
"Lackland and Randolph air force bases, both training command centers; Brooks Air Force Base, an aerospace medical headquarters; and Kelly Air Force Base, an air material and security service post"
(Columbia Encyclopedia, 2001, PG). One of the most popular things about San Antonio is the fact that the Riverwalk is there, a newly-refurbished tree-lined river that curves through the town,
with plenty of shopping and restaurants on either side. There are riverboat rides that will take you leisurely from one end of the river to the other. Tourists
line the walkways enjoying the malls, the art galleries, and other interesting shops that can be found overlooking the river. GEOGRAPHY, CLIMATE AND AREA San Antonios climate is considered
to be a "modified sub-tropical climate" (Westover, 2002, PG) with approximately thirty inches of rainfall annually. This means that San Antonio is quite lush and green, and the newcomer
to San Antonio will find the city and the area around it to be very beautiful. In South Central Texas, San Antonio is considered to be part of the
