weight. I gripped the armrests on my seat in excitement. Soon, the plane was down and I joined the throngs of people making their way through customs and into the
United States. At this point in the essay the student researching this topic may want to offer a description of the students first impression of the city, which is
naturally connected to the students past experience. For example, if the student is from a rural area or a small town, the student may find New York to be overwhelming,
and wish to say something like this: The throngs of people, the variety of people, each heading purposefully on their own mission, was incredible. It was as if the whole
population of a good-sized town was crammed into a single street. However, if the student comes from somewhere very urban, such as Shanghai, the urban scene might feel more familiar.
