appropriate and successful management. And while many have a unique concept of just what vision is, there are definitions that tend to summarize the consensus. What is vision?
Lipton (1996) says a vision is something that focuses on the future and serves as a foundation for any organization, but is different from goals and
objectives. Goals can change from time to time but vision is more like a promise (1996). It is an overall goal. For example, one has goals in their lives which
may include getting married, earning a good living, buying a home, having children and the like. But those are goals and do not encompass particular philosophical longings that give meaning
to life. A vision for someones life for example might include the idea that one will be generous or truthful at all times and will be surrounded by love while
minimizing strife. These are general, vague ideas but fit into a paradigm of longings that are meaningful and significant. Similarly, in the corporate world, a vision must encompass a general
goal replete with a philosophical position. Lipton (1996) says that a successful vision creates a clear picture for an organization and, while future- based, is in the present tense,
as if it were being utilized now. And in a sense, a vision is something that may be embraced in the present with the idea that anything inconsistent that exists,
