it achieved some pretty instantaneous popularity at the outset, it settled in its own dusty little corner after that and was nearly forgotten for awhile. Now it is once again
resurfacing and proclaiming itself to the world because two-dimensional computer graphics just arent making the grade anymore. The world is demanding 3-D.
VRML was developed by Mark Pesce and Tony Parisi back in 1994 as a way to create virtual reality. Virtual reality (VR) can be defined as the use of a
computer to create an artificial world, typically in three dimensions, that a user can navigate and manipulate objects within. One of the best examples of this is Doom, or Sonys
full-screen 3-D gaming environments such as Resident Evil or The Need for Speed (Lewin, 20). One game thrusts the player into the virtual world of slaying ghouls and monsters, while
the other simulates racing. One of the main problems of virtual reality on the web is trying to figure out what to
use VR for and what not to. As it currently stands, the uses for virtual reality technology are fairly limited, confined to areas such as modeling, simulation, presentations, and entertainment,
which may be why VRML hasnt really caught on yet. However, those futuristic worlds of Hollywood are no longer "science fiction" but
merely a projection of future things to come for all of us and virtual reality plays a big part in that. The
way VRML works is that objects shared between two clients (avatars) reside in "zones." Each has a pilot on one client and a drone on the other. The avatars
