can be held using a variety of technology. For example, private chat rooms are frequently used. This venue is controlled through passwords and can be restricted only to the e-mail
addresses of the members of the team. Oftentimes, the initial meetings held through technology, can be chaotic. And, that is what happened with one IT project at a specific company.
The project was to upgrade a specific software application. The experts on this software were geographically scattered - two members of the team were in Tokyo, Japan, two were in
New Delhi, India, three were in the UK and four were at the head office in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. Further consultation on this project was to be obtained from three
experts in Palo Alto, California. The teams manager was at the head office in Seattle. The initial problem was that none of the participants identified to complete the project
had ever been involved in virtual meetings. The only members who had had met each other were individuals in the same geographic locations. And, the manager who was placed in
charge of the project had met only the two people in Seattle; he was their manager. The manager arranged the date and time taking into consideration the time
differences between geographic locations and arranged the private chat room. He also set an agenda, which he e-mailed to all members, that included these items: set project objectives, set timelines,
