efforts. In addition, it provides its faction of Virginias citizenry with a responsive police department that is independent yet supportive of other law enforcement agencies. It also preserves
law and order; enforces criminal, traffic and regulatory laws; and provides essential public safety services efficiently and effectively all citizens of the Commonwealth. Currently, the entire police department has been
trained in the Community Policing Concept and officers have been assigned shifts. Their next step will involve community input into the process. Public meetings will be held to address community
concerns and questions regarding these community-policing concepts.
