Vietnam like all areas of heavy developmental activities faces some age old problems of construction design and integration. They also face the same requirements for the incorporation of
appropriated infrastructures. One very important aspect of this infrastructure is the collection and treatment of domestic wastewaters. The presence or absence of a well designed wastewater treatment system
can make or break a project both in terms of the actual cost of the project and in the perceptions this design presents to potential investors.
Much of the design and integration of Vietnamese construction is very much dependent of effective and well-planned infrastructure and city morphology. Cities grow in sometimes muddled
and mysterious ways both in Vietnam and elsewhere. Other times, however, their growth is carefully planned and executed. Planned growth and development is not only a recent phenomena.
Even in ancient times many cities were carefully planned out. The history of a citys growth can be ascertained by
looking at the spatial arrangement and distribution of not only the buildings and roads but also of the infrastructural features such as water supplies. Spatial land use patterns are
also important in understanding a citys development, for example which lands were traditionally used for the production of food, which for business, and which for housing and how each of
these land uses have changed over time. Understanding urban growth and planning is critical from many perspectives, not the least of which in
