visual presentation of the subjects at hand. In the painting "The Woman in Blue Reading a Letter" we are presented with his unique perspectives that may, or may not, have
been new to the visual world of painting. In the following paper we examine the time frame and the painting, discussing whether it seems that Vermeer was concerned with the
new idea of visual for painters or not. Lady in Blue This particular painting is surely filled with many different components that could be discussed in terms of perspective
and visual. It is a very crisp, yet somehow soft and romantic, painting that has limited material items within the room. It is clearly a painting that has meaning, for
each item in the room and each position of the items, seem to hold powerful importance. For example, we have the profile of a woman who is pregnant. She is
not dressed colorfully, but yet is dressed with the hint of color and vibrancy. Her head is immersed in the map of Holland that lies on the wall behind her.
There is no window that we can see, but yet light pours in on the figure of the woman reading the letter. The table below her is incredibly powerful in
its geometrical balance with the map, and essentially we are presented with an incredibly intense visual image. But, is this particular visual imagery related with the new visual imagery of
its time. In examining this issue we look at the technology of the time, primarily the camera obscura. In a review of a book which examines the life and work
of Vermeer, Franits (2003) states that "The second part of Vermeer Studies is devoted to the Construction of Vermeers Paintings. This title can be taken quite literally, since the section
