investments that took place which had a negative impact on cash flow, with an ah inflow in 2006 as a result of a sale of a business investments which after
capital expenditures resulted in a net inflow of $357, however 2007 and 2008 saw cash outflows; $3,249 in 2007 and $8,189 in 2008. The cash flow was aided with the
issuance of stock in 2007 and 2008. Overall, the firm has a positive free cash flow in all four years, with an increased level in line with the increased level
of profitability. The free cash flow for Apple was $1,563 in 2006, $4,735 in 2007 and $8,505 in 2008. Looking at Sony there was a net cash flow
from operations that increased each of the three years, this was $3,551.4 in 2006, $4,807.7 in 2007 and $6,632.8 in 2008. Just as with Apple there was active investment taking
place, this was $7,738.3 in 2006, $6,130.8 in 2007 and $7,970.1 in 2008. Unlike Apple there was not issuance of share to raise cash, but there were increases in the
level of debt, with a net inflow as a result of debt, with net inflow here of $3,196.2 in 2006, $2,124.4 in 2007 and $4,425.3 in 2008. Overall, the free
cash flow is increasing, there was a negative inflow of $556.1 in 2006, in 2007 there was a positive cash flow of $287.2 in 2007, and $2,478.6 in 2008.
