Most of us eventually learn that "accidents" and "coincidences" are products of our own imagination, that there is a greater influence guiding us through lessons. Regardless of how
mature and sophisticated we want to believe ourselves to be, there still is no substitute for learning by doing. Where the really big lessons are concerned, the curriculum is
called "Life." The Beginning of Wisdom Only with some background information and some foundational knowledge can we begin to synthesize the true meaning
of life. There are those who would say it is different for every individual, and could even point to the works of Albom (1997), Coelho (1995 and Quinn (1995)
as example. The advantage that the passing of years provides demonstrates the evidence that there are more similarities in peoples lives than there are differences.
Albom (1997) had the advantage of being able to learn from one who was completing the journey. "The last class of my old professors life took
place once a week in his house, by a window in the study ... The subject was "The Meaning of Life. It was taught from experience ... A funeral
was held in lieu of graduation" (Albom 1). The author was able to gain a broader perspective of the value of his own life and his contribution to those
