ways of doing things that are better than the old ways. This maybe seen as moving in a way similar to a product lifecycle and it relates how a firm
is able to gain value from the products or services that it sells. Reflecting this value migration may be divided into three stages, value inflow, stability and value outflow.
In the value inflow stage the firm may be one that has a new way of providing a good or service that is better in some way that the former
provisions (Slywotsky, 1996). This is the stage where they are gaining a great deal of value prices charged to consumers may increase and increase profit levels for the firm. However
this stage may also be drawn out as when the innovations first take place it is possible it may be far ahead us the support mechanisms needed or the attitudes
and ideas in the market. There are many examples of this, including the Wright brothers development of the first aircraft; it did lead to the development of military aircraft, but
the development was too soon for a consumer product or service to be developed, although this was a totally new development, it would take time to become a profitable industry.
Other new ways of doing things may appear to take off rapidly, but often the lead time is underestimated when looking at the market place as the support and commentary
