Greenwood Primary School serves as one example of how Arts curriculum and interest can be introduced, even used to enhance the overall learning experiences of the children in the school.
In August of 2004 Greenwood launched their first Visual Arts Carnival Day which was a successful culminating event capping off a years worth of Fine Arts study at the school.
The theme that they centered the first Carnival around was that of color. Called colors of vitality this event served both as culminating event and promotional for the continuance of
the program for the next year. This type of Arts curriculum and programming centers on interactive participation by the students, often
called experiential learning. What was more, the carnival was not limited to works created by the students, but was also open to the teachers to submit works that they had
created through the program as well. The carnival was held in a visual arts centre which gave over all of its spaces
to the goal of teaching various facets of the visual arts to children. Various rooms are set up so that children can explore the use and application of light as
it is used in art and applied to art works. Basically, the carnival was broken into four different areas of exploration for
the attendees. Certain areas featured market type areas where the students and attendees could purchase various art projects for their home. Other areas were focused on creating and experimenting with
