actual development, however, it would first be helpful to define what each of these aspects are. VB.net stands for Visual Basic.NET and its a version of Microsofts Visual Basic (Whatis.com, 2005). Overall, this product was designed as part of Microsofts .NET group to help programmers make Web services applications easier to develop, with VB.NET a re-engineering of an already existing product to help make fundamental changes to the language (Whatis.com, 2005). VB.NET also has the claim to fame as being the first fully object-oriented programming version of Visual Basic, and supports concepts such as abstraction, inheritance, polymorphism and aggregation (Whatis.com, 2005). C# (r "C-sharp" as it is pronounced), in the meantime, is a new object-oriented programming language by Microsoft, which combines the comuting power of the former C++ with the programming simplicity of Visual Basic (Win2000.com, 2005). C# isnt too much different from Java when it comest to programming, and the aim of this language (in conjunction with the .NET platnforms) are to facilitate and make easier the exchange of information and services over the Web, as well as to help developers build more portable applications (Win2000.com, 2005). C# basically helps simplify programming, and combined with VN.NET, helps develop Web applications that are that much more powerful (Win2000.com, 2005). Perhaps the best way to see this in use is to examine an actual case study that relied on using VB.NET with C# programming language. MapShots, Inc., a company developing GIS and recordkeeping software for the crop production and golf course industries, needed software that could run on mobile devices, as well as that which could interact with ...
