Brave New World presents a similar situation, with its presentation of a Utopian world. Therefore, these stories have the common theme of living in a world that has pre-determined
lifes choices, making utopia possible only by relinquishing the self. Walden Two is indeed an idyllic world. The people
are healthy and happy there, and no one even needs to earn money because literally everything is free. In this way, social stratification ceases to exist and equality encompasses
every aspect of the community. However, it is important to remember that this is done at the expense of the individuality
of the population. The "rulers" of Walden Two are in charge of making/changing/editing the rules by which people live, and instituting the proper rewards and/or punishments that accompany each
rule. It is because of this system that the people behave in the way that they do - they are literally conditioned (i.e. brainwashed) into doing so.
While Walden Two may seem like a far-fetched fantasy, we can actually find evidence of the core themes of this story right in
our own society. Consider how the general population views its government and the politicians who hold political office. What we know about our government is defined through the
television shows we watch, the radio we listen to, and the newspapers we read. It is common knowledge that Washington puts its own "spin" on everything that happens anyway,
thus nearly obliterating our ability to truly know what is happening in our government. For this reason, much as Walden Two was based upon a fabricated image of reality,
