some where it might seem unusual. This paper considers how companies can use technology to manage ethical standards and guidelines, and how using technology in Human Resources can affect company
culture. Discussion Using technology to manage ethical standards: Whenever a company makes a new product or devises a new procedure, it also has to consider the ethical implications of what
its doing. It may use technology with regard to its consumer products, but we want to focus on how a company might use technology with regard to the ethical standards
and guidelines it has set for its own employees. Some corporations monitor employees communications, both telephone and email, "through the network administrator" (Morin, 2007). Its the task of this
division to "censor emails that arrive with inappropriate language or content" and return it to the sender without the intended recipient being any wiser (Morin, 2007). Phone conversations are also
monitored; if the employee should use inappropriate language he or she could be reprimanded (Morin, 2007). Another way for a company to use technology to maintain their ethical standards is
to block use of the Internet except for certain sites (Morin, 2007). The Internet is possibly the greatest "time suck" ever invented; its possible to become intrigued following leads around
