is applied, its use and the potential problems can be examined. Porters Diamond model is a useful model for analyzing the competitive environment and the development of countries. This works
in a similar way to the five forces model but this time different more direct influences are considered. In graphical form this can be seen as a diamond with four
facets and the business in the middle. The influence that this encompasses are factor conditions, demand conditions, related and supporting industries and firm strategy and rivalry (Porter, 1999, Weller, 1999).
This can be seen as complimentary of the five forces model but coming from a from a different perspective, but it is
used as a framework in order to predict and foresee potential circumstances and events which may effect the business in the future so that they may be best dealt with,
either by protective measures or by utilizing emergent strategies and taking advantage of opportunities that may arise, as well as examining an existing business environment (Thompson, 2007). The accuracy of
this model depends on the quality and accuracy of the input information, especially when we consider the very broad influences it considers. The
