will meet the legal requirements, there may also be ethical considerations and/or standards that the firm want to employ, as well as the way compliance may be sought in order
to align IT with the strategic vision of the firm. Many firms have founds difficulties in the way that these are implemented as they need to be implemented in an
integrated manner, but there is little doubt that information systems are able to help with this process(Damianides, 2005). In order to understand how information system can help it is beneficial
to consider this at the same time as the concept and application of IT compliance. General speaking there are two types of IT compliance; compliance IT general control and
compliance for IT applications (Sefika et al, 1996). The IT general controls concern the way that the general IT infrastructure operates and that way that risks associated with this, which
may include functional issues and the maintenance of integrity and configuration when changes are made as well as security and access. By comparison IT application controls are designed to ensure
that specific applications are functioning correctly, which may include issues such as ensuring authorised use and that records or data are accurate and complete (Dameri, 2009). It is suggested
that when a firm is undertaking IT compliance that to create value there should be three goals undertaken in parallel with the compliance process; the need to monitor the cost
and seek to reduce the cost of the way compliance is implemented, to seek to improve the scope as well as the benefits that the compliance program will bring and
