The following paper examines how the internet is used today. The paper is divided into three sections: communication, downloading, and personal usage. Uses of the Internet: Communication
One of the first ways that the internet was used as a communication tool, aside from simple email, was through chat rooms. Chat rooms
are rooms, cyber rooms, where people can come in and simply begin typing and chatting with people on a variety of topics. For example, a person could find a chat
room that was focused on single mothers, or one that is designed to help people cope with and talk about physical disorders. There are chat rooms for genealogy and chat
rooms where people can find love, sex, or friendship. If one can imagine it one can likely find a chat room that revolves around it. And, in such chat rooms
people can communicate with people from all over the world. This is truly a powerful communication device for it has likely served to bring people together in ways never seen
before, ways that can be seen as positive as well as negative. People can also use the computer to communicate with others
through texting. While most people envision texting only as something done with their phone, the internet can provide a base to text someone on their phone. This clearly puts communication
through the internet on a level that truly seems to leave no gaps. A person does not need to use their phone to send a message to someone elses phone
