There are many improvements that could be made to the existing information system, some of which already have been planned. The goal is to design and implement a system that will provide nearly-instantaneous updates that reflect physician orders right away; generate periodic reports automatically; and provide automated billing and payment reconciliation. The new system also will contain an automated inventory system that will alert people when supplies need to be reordered.
