Indeed, southern California beaches of decades past were only beginning to show the signs of contamination, still remaining well within the parameters of what is considered to be safe; however, the water sources of late are clearly demonstrating the consequences of overwhelming pollution by killing off a significant amount of the plant and animal life that depends upon it for existence. Attempts to correct this drastic situation is too little too late according to critics, who contend that area beaches - not the least of which include Pacific Palisades - have been left to fight for their health for far too long to be expected to regain any soundness.
