Sales and Marketing department has made some changes over the years, and its management realizes it needs to make better use of the information it holds. The purpose here
is to assess possible hardware and software needs to increase the departments efficiency. Customer Information The sales information that Riordan currently collects focuses
on the product; Riordans production needs; and the prices and profitability of past sales. The department currently has order information that includes dates of order, delivery and payment, which
it should be able to use to improve production schedules and future sales forecasting. The company needs a software solution that will translate
order and production dates to labor and materials needs forecasts. Labor may remain fairly constant, but better information regarding raw materials needs can assist the company in securing better
prices for those raw materials through better needs forecasting. The same system should correlate the prices paid by customers for the products. The ability to provide greater discounts
for longer lead times in production should help salespeople secure future customer orders. Sales Forecasting The software that assists Riordan in planning its
production and procurement of raw materials also should assist the company in planning for the future. Riordan currently has marketing plans and results on paper; hardware and software upgrades
should include the means of converting these paper records to an electronic format that can be used in other applications. Riordan also has
