are canceling hundreds of flights in September. United claims its pilots are refusing to work overtime since their contract has expired in April, and most of the pilots have
been increasingly calling in sick. The pilots claim that there is not an organized work slowdown, and that the problem is the result of Uniteds failure to hire enough
pilots. While United Airlines is apologizing for the multitude of flight delays and cancellations, the mass confusion at the worlds largest airline could last another month or more, according to
industry analysts. Not only labor problems but the advent of bad summer weather, air traffic control system problems, as well as a huge number of passengers taking to the
skies are all considered part of the blame for the recent troubles of United Airlines. (Fieweger, PG). According to analysts even more delays
seem likely and they have indicated that profits may be hurt considerably as the revenues at United Airlines tapers. United Airlines planned $4.3 billion purchase of US Airways Group
Inc, which was far from being a completed deal, may be affected as well. United Airlines is the parent of United (Fieweger, PG).
