at Ernst & Young claimed that studios continue to incur high costs, thinking that they will get it back somewhere (64). The high cost of many
movies today is largely due to the fact that they pay super stars inordinate amounts of cash (Greenwald 64). Today, studios put up with such extravagance because their executives have
visions of global markets that are hungry for Hollywood films (64). Thus, studios will sign huge checks for the likes of Demi Moore, Tom Cruise, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Greenwald suggests
that Hollywood spending will probably rise even more until some box-office disaster forces studios to retrench once again (64). He refers back to 1919 when film stars Charlie Chaplin, Mary
