Yet, there are many things within this society-tangible and intangible-that require attention. Today, this growing society has to some extent tried to bridge its gender gap, and has become a
bit more affluent. Yet, as the society has grown so much, problems have come about throughout the years. For example, there are more traffic accidents in UAE than most anywhere
in the world, and the nation had suffered through hard times concerning the drinking water supply for example. Yet, the future seems to be bright for this country that is
increasingly becoming more and more desirable when it comes to building. The United Arab Emirates is on one hand, an old fashioned society, with many traditions and religious values, but
on the other hand, it is a growing region that is becoming more prosperous and more westernized. Traditionally, the people of UAE do dress a certain way. This is
true despite the fact that the society is influenced by global changes in fashion. Hurreiz (2002) explains: "The general appearance of a wide sector of the population of the UAE,
as well as the nature of their activities and social customs reveals a great respect for heritage and traditional culture" (p. 42). The respect is seen in the way that
the people greet each other and the way that they dress and eat and drink (Hurreiz, 2002). For example, the people speak certain dialects and dine on traditional cuisine (Hurreiz,
2002). In some way, the people cling to their heritage and there is little anyone can do to change that. It is true that the lifestyle associated with staunch
tradition is primarily aligned with the older population (Hurreiz, 2002). Globalization has changed things somewhat, but has not hurt the traditions of the people who live in the United Arab
