been accepted. At the core of Paganism, which is also referred to as Wicca, is a total sense of selflessness -- a connection with the earth and nature that is
both benevolent and gentle. The historical message that has been passed down about the Pagan religion has no more bearing upon its intent than does being a witch mean
that one is an inherently bad person. The negative image of Paganism as both a religion and way of life reflects an ignorance of the truth, inasmuch as if
one were to seek out the actual definition, one would be surprised at how misinformed the world has become. "Contrary to what those who choose to persecute or lie
about us wish to believe, Wicca is a very peaceful, harmonious and balanced way of thinking and life which promotes oneness with the divine and all which exists" (Anonymous wicca.htm).
The evil that is associated with Paganism and Wicca are born of fear and unfamiliarity with anything other than conventional religions. The words that are an integral component of
Paganism -- witch, moon, goddess -- are not indicative of evil, but rather exemplify the devotion to nature. Indeed, to choose Paganism is to choose a "deep appreciation and
awe" of the natural world and to revel in the fact that one can live ones life in peaceful, contented existence. Paganism is looking within oneself as a means
