One such tool that is used in this regard is whats known as a use case. The use case is a fairly extensive flow diagram that helps outline various functions and systems. With use cases in hand, we can determine various steps of a project, and how they might impact users. In this paper, well examine two such situations as they relate to Turning Point, an inpatient drug rehabilitation and detox facility, and determine the steps necessary through use cases, to get these projects up and running. In the first instance, well examine requirements necessary (and their rationale) for developing and implementation of a web site with a strong customer service component. In the second example, well add Internet-based advertising abilities (such as pop-overs, pop-ups and banners). In both cases, well also explain the rational and requirements necessary for getting these systems off the ground. An Overview of Use Cases A use case, in its most basic form, involves a sequence of actions offering something as a measurable value (Ambler, 2006). In the situations below, the measurable value would be a web site with a customer service component, whereas the second example would focus on the goal of Internet-based advertising abilities.
